Maximilian Kolbe prayed a lot for his country at this time. He made one of the greatest decisions in his life, and with his superior's permission, he founded the "Militia of Mary Immaculate" a group of people working for peace. Six of his Franciscan brothers joined him in this new mission. Maximilian was ordained priest in Rome on April 28, 1918. The following year he returned to Poland with two of the highest academic degrees: a doctorate in theology. He also returned home with a more profound spiritual life and a frail body ruined by severe lung problems.
