On February 3rd 1977, Bishop Romero was appointed Archbishop of San Salvador and primate of El Salvador at a point when the country was entering a turbulent and tragic phase. Archbishop Romero firmly affirmed the values of the Gospel in a context where life, truth and justice were blatantly dismissed. He walked as a man of faith and an advocate alongside his people, especially the poor and vulnerable. Using the radio, St Oscar Romero spoke out and renounced every form of violence and injustice, repeating the fact that every person is created in the image and likeness of God and is worthy of a dignified life. We are the media generation, Our microphones and possibilities are all over the social media; Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Flickr, Tumblr, YouTube, etc. These are powerful means which we can use against violence, against poverty, against corruption, etc.
