Being a Religious Formator in today's world is neither popular nor easy. Many times, focus is laid on the ones being formed and the demands that weigh on the formator recede to oblivion. Of the many roles that Religious may be asked to take up in their communities, that of the formator evokes fear: Religious shy away from this ministry because they know that every aspects of their lives will be open to scrutiny by the young people they are accompanying. It is in this context that the words of St Paul, addressed to all Christians: Be imitators of me as l am of Christ (1 Cor 11:1) stand as an awesome challenge, and especially to the religious formator.
