The proclamation of the Word of God is based very closely on Holy Scripture but at the same time it involves personal contact between individuals. As Isaiah sang "How beautiful upon the mountains are the feet of the one bringing good news, Announcing peace, bearing good news, announcing salvation, saying to Zion, "Your God is King!" (52:7). I am happy to see a young missionary take on the challenge of announcing peace and bringing good news. Fr Emmanuel brings to his task the enthusiasm and energy of youth, and that is certainly a good thing. But this is not an account of naive optimism. He also shares about sufferings and trials, his own and those of his parishioners. This gives his words authority and authenticity. My hope is that all those who read this book will find it a source of strength and inspiration. I dare to hope too that some young women and men who read these words may themselves hear the call to leave their homeland, their families and their personal security and dedicate their lives to the proclamation of the Good News.
