The book is a biography of Fr Joseph Richetti, a Consolata missionary. He is remembered for his liveliness, attention to detail, commitment to innovation, love for Africa and trust in its people than for the early adventurous times at the Mission. Blessed Joseph Allamano, the founder of the Institute to which he belonged, maintained that a missionary is "in need of fire,"  of an ardent and a passionate love for God and for one's brothers. We must have the mission, Africa and its people at heart, and love them, His programme was "Let us love our people, let us be sensitive to their needs: 'let us make them feel that we are with them." Those who knew Fr Joseph remember him as a "volcanic" man, with activities that would bring joy and love for others. When he came to Kenya, he went first to Nyahururu, then to Kerugoya, Tuthu, Sagana and finally to populous Karuri with all the problems of satellite dormitory towns next to a big metropolis like Nairobi.
