Jesus called his young disciple by name when he chose them and gave them a plan and a mission. Among these disciples, the Twelve, who were the closest to him, were invested with the responsibility of being pillars of his Church. When Jesus calls them they do not yet know the amazing experience they are about to begin, but they understand that Jesus is a special person who is able to change their lives. They follow him for years; they enthusiastic accompany him for his entrance into Jerusalem but then abandon him during the sorrowful night at Gethsemane. After Jesus's Resurrection and after Pentecost, they courageously proclaim Jesus as the son of God and his Gospel of salvation, they were ready to give their lives for him. They were disciples, Apostles, enthusiastic young people and adults, a small group of people destined to an extraordinary adventure: to spread the Gospel of salvation to the world. That extraordinary mission is not over yet! The adventure of the Apostles continue today, with each of you, with all of you. Jesus calls young apostles by name today.
