This 'Spiritual Journey' is a personal spiritual programme composed of different spiritual exercises with a focus on a particular biblical theme or the teaching of a spiritual master. Saint Ignatius of Loyola describes the nature and purpose of a spiritual journey clearly in his traditional book the ' Spiritual Exercises' by the term ' Spiritual Exercises' is meant every method of examination of conscience, of meditation, of contemplation, of vocal and mental prayer and of other spiritual activities that will be mentioned later. For just as taking a walk, journey on foot, and running are bodily exercises, so we call Spiritual Exercises every way of preparing and disposing the soul to rid itself of all the inordinate attachments, and, after their removal, of seeking and finding the will of God in the disposition of our life for the salvation of our souls" (spiritual Exercises[1]). What is proposed here as a 'spiritual journey' is simply a programme that can be followed in any of the ways mentioned above. In our case, the programme draws inspiration from the apostolic spirituality of the Apostle Paul. The purpose of this 'spiritual journey' with its exercises would be to respond to the need for ongoing care and progress in the spiritual life of any Christian. When Saint Paul wrote to the Corinthians about the need for this spiritual 'training' he used the example of the Olympic Games as a symbol of a spiritual journey.
