Sr Marie Clementine Anuarite died a martyr during the Zairian civil war in 1964.

Our story begins in a little town called Wamba in the North East of what was then the Belgian Congo (nowadays Zaire) in the year 1941. A little girl was born to Amsi Badjulu and his wife Isude. At the time she was named Nengapeta Anuarite. She was the third daughter (They only had daughters) and was born whilst her father was away at the war. At that time neither of her parents were Christian; but while he was away her father visited Palestine where Jesus had lived, died and rose from the dead. He was very impressed by what he saw and heard. He wrote home to his wife mama Isude to tell her to enroll herself and the children at the Catholic Mission in order to be baptised. He also informed the priest. After a short period they were baptised, her mother taking the name Julienne and Anuarite receiving the name Alphonise
