In his letter enititled "Development for all" Populorum Progressio; 1967- Pope John Paul VI remembered missionaries who were forgotten. He mentioned one only by name: Charles de Foucauld, who was given the title: "Universal brother" because of his love for people irrespective of their religion, nationality, or tribe. The Holy Father also remembered him for the scientific work he did on the language of the people of the Sahara, the Tuaregs. In the year 2005, this brave missionary was bearified.
