Cecilia was born in the early part of the third century, in Rome. Her father was a rich man and a pagan, but her mother was a secret Christian because during that era the Christians were being persecuted. Despite that, Cecilia was initiated into Christianity through baptism in her early childhood. At the age of eight, Cecilia grew in search of her faith. From school she would go with her friends who were Christians to the church especially in terms of singing. Once her friend visited her. Cecilia brought her piano and played it together with her. This practice made her feel the joy of singing as she recalled the songs sung in the church. She also listened to the Christian music sung by her favourite musician. She longed to be like this musician in life. she said, "The day will come when I will use my voice to praise God in all things because God is worthy to be praised." Her friend was touched by Cecilia's ambition and Cecilia's home became for her a second home where she felt relaxed and happy.
