New Wine in New Wineskins. Consecrated Life 50 Years after Lumen Gentium and Perfectae Caritatis" was the theme of the Plenary Session of the Congregation for Institutes of Consecrated Life and Societies of Apostolic Life held from the 27th-30th of November 2014. This Plenary Session focused its attention on the journey that the consecrated life has made in the post-conciliar period, seeking to synthesis the remaining challenges out of this reflection. These Guidelines are the fruit of what emerged from this Plenary Session as well as from subsequent reflections which developed during the numerous events held during the Year of Consecrated Life which brought consecrated men and women from all over the world together in Rome, to the See of Peter. Since the Second Vatican Council, the Church's magisterium has continually accompanied the lives of consecrated persons. This dicastery, in particular, has provided important and valuable points of reference: the Instructions Potissimum Institution (1990), Fraternal Life in Community (1994), Starting Afresh from Christ (2002), The Service of Authority and Obedience (2008), and Identity and Mission of the Religious Brother in the Church (2015).
