For some years now, a programme of cooperation and collaboration existed between Tangaza College in Nairobi and Radboud University in Nijmegen, Netherlands. Early in 2007, teachers at these two institutes felt that the time was ripe to hold a conference on the current state of Christian-Muslim co-existence in Eastern Africa. This publication brings together the Papers presented at the conference which took place at Tangaza College from October 10th-11th, 2007. The main aim of the conference was to bring together eminent speakers from the two faith traditions, living side by side in this part of Africa. Particular attention was paid to consider the blessings of the modern age and its challengees and how our respective sacred texts enlighten us, guide us, and help us to coexist. The way forward for Christian-Muslim encounter and dialogue lies in a programme of reconciliation and peacebuilding. The conference was a resounding success and enjoyed the enthusiastic participation of a large number of people both from the college and from furthure afield. The speakers came from Kenya, Ethiopia, Egypt and the Netherlands. Other such seminars and conferences are envisage in future.
