"How can l help my son? Every time he sees someone coming, he hides in the house." "Since the war, why are the 10 year old's in my church behaving like 6 year old's?" " John used to be such an active child in my class, but since his family was robbed on the road he doesn't seem to want to take part in anything." Church leaders, Youth leaders, teachers and other concerned adults often find it difficult to help children recover after trauma. This book is a guide for these caring adults. Through stories, group exercises and games, and a Bible story, children are assisted in working through their trauma. The Leader's Manual, and its companion booklet for children, were concieved and developed during workshops with children in Uganda and Liberia. The authors have used these materials with groups around Africa and Asia. Debbie Braaksman and Lyn Wetman are both ordained ministers. Debbie is a Reformed Church in America Mission worker serving with RECONCILE in Sudan. Lyn is a licensed psychologist and an advanced practice mental health nurse who is presently the Mental Health Program Administrator for Mercy Ships. Margret Hill is a coordinator with SIL in Africa, and has worked for many years in the area of Bible translation.
