Psalms of God's Presence, while being written, was presented to three lay persons and to a priest deep into the life and thinking of the church. The priest was pleased. A woman reader went much further. She admitted that she had never before picked up the Bible to read it. She is a dedicated Catholic, invoked even in some of the lay ministries of the Church. Caught by the Psalms and the 'Psalms to Visit' at the end of each Chapter, she one day found herself for the first time with the Bible in hand, and the Word of God absorbing her. Should this book accomplish that, just a few times over, then the hours gone into writing and publishing it have been well spent. Psalms of God's Presence requires on special learning on the part of the reader; just an open heart ready to welcome the Spirit and ready to answer the cry of the word that has been appealing to us to listen within the Church. As for me, l am most grateful for the Lord's invitation to join him in getting  the scriptures to come alive again in our Church.
