In the light of Job's experience and with social, cultural and spiritual characteristics of Africa as touchstones, Fr Ghislain Tshikendwa rejects the understanding of AIDS as a punishment from God even if a certain theology of retribution tries to establish a necessary link of cause and effect between sin and sickness, and so provokes the shame and the exclusion of those with HIV and AIDS.
