This is a story, which began in India with a very unhappy child and ends in England with two very happy children who knew how to change their attitudes to the happenings of life.During the past century, people have discovered that mere thoughts are very powerful, either for good or for bad. To let a bad or sad thought get into our mind is as dangerous as letting a scarlet fever germ get into our body. If our mind is filled with good things, then there will be no room left for disagreeable thoughts, and as a result we become happier and make others happy also. This is what happened to Mistress Mary and Colin. When Mary’s mind was full of disagreeable thoughts about her dislikes and sour opinions of people, she could not let herself be pleased or interested in anything. She was sickly, bored and a wretched child. But when the circumstances changed and her mind was filled with robins and secret gardens, her world opened up and she saw people and everything around her quite differently. The Secret Garden came alive and the two children came alive with it.
