Pope Francis has Placed the year 2020-2021 under the spiritual guidance and protection of St Joseph. He has done so by writing an Apostolic Letter entitled Patris corde. This Letter, which marks the 150th anniversary of the proclamation of St Joseph as Patron Saint of the Universal Church by the Blessed Pius IX, is meant to increase our Love for St Joseph, to lead us to implore his intercession and to imitate his virtues and zeal. Hopefully this “Year of Saint Joseph” (from 8 December 2020, to 8 December 2021) will see the end of the pandemic and economic crisis caused by COVID-19, and the beginning of a common effort to make the world a better place for everyone, especially for the poor and all those who suffer. Pope Francis, as everyone knows, has taken up the mission to guide God’s people (and in fat the whole of humanity) through the tempest of the pandemic to a new horizon of hope and possibility, thus giving us courage determination and optimism.
