"As I began to read, l realised the work was a collection of a long journey of reflection, preaching and spiritual retreats; these are now offered as the fruit of that experience and as a proposal to help the process of following Jesus Christ. I empasise the testimonial aspect of the book; l would describe it as the handing over of years of experience, fruit of the life and mission of a priest, formator and shepherd This is a book to be used for reflective reading that leads to spiritual growth. Therefore, one should appreciate the abundance of biblical texts and quotations from the official Church documents, canticles and poems taken from both the liturgy and the religious tradition of the Church. This adds to the book a flair of beauty and colour that help to create a particular atmosphere for prayer. I also consider helpful and pedagogical the proposed guided reflection at the end of each topic: "For prayer and meditation". "As we can see, this is a book that combines depth and relevance with simplicity and pleasant reading, looking forward to involving the reader in a journey of spiritual reflection for the improvement of his life... I believe the book you have in your hands, whose prologue I was pleased to write, is the fruit of a long journey of reflection and prayer; it requires, therefore, a meditative reading; the first requirement to advance in any important matter is taking the necessary time. We are used to rushing our reading in order to acquire information; this book has a different aim. I am grateful to Cardinal Bergoglio for having decided to gather and offer these writings in a single book, as a relevant journey that helps and enriches us."
