Globalisation is the process of national and international integration. However, in spite of this emphasis on integration, globalisation also stresses the importance of the local regions having control over their own affairs. Thus, throughout Africa there is now some type of devolution of power downwards from central government towards provinces and counties. This has far-reaching implications on society and how it is governed. Globalisation and devolution are, therefore, appropriate topics for the final volume in this Civic Education series.
