It reflects the richness of The Catechism of the Catholic Church and the Compendium and leads us to focus our experience on Christ and how to be his true disciples in the African context. This Catechism has been prepared with a few aims in mind, namely: close reliance on the Catechism of the Catholic Church and the Compendium; a simple language; reference to the African context; the use of drawing and other catechetical tools to foster a deeper understanding of the message. It is our hope that this Catechism, which is the result of the concerted efforts of so many people, will give strength to the Catholic Church in Kenya and be of inspiration to other Episcopal Conferences in Africa. As the Servant of God, Pope John Paul II, reminded us in Ecclesia in Africa, we are called to be the family of God, gathered in one faith, in order to be true and courageous witnesses of the gift of life that the Lord has offered to the whole world. May the Virgin Mary, Mother of the Lord and Mother of Africa, intercede for all her children.
